This is a place for Christians, churches, gardeners, families, ministry leaders, and neighbours who are wondering how faith in Christ connects with care for creation.

Green Ministry begins with a simple conviction: creation belongs to God, and Christians are called to care for what God loves.

This is not only about the environment, and it is not only about gardening. It is about Christian discipleship, worship, mission, neighbour-love, justice, prayer, and hope. It is about learning to live more faithfully with God, with one another, and with the created world we have been given to tend.

What Green Ministry Means

Green Ministry is Christian creation stewardship for the renewal of common ground.

Common ground means the soil beneath our feet. It also means the shared places where our lives meet: churches, neighbourhoods, gardens, kitchens, food banks, schools, parks, balconies, dinner tables, and local communities.

The heart of Green Ministry is this hope: that churches and ordinary Christians can participate with the Holy Spirit in God’s renewing work for people, communities, and creation.

Sometimes that participation looks like prayer.

Sometimes it looks like worship outdoors.

Sometimes it looks like compost, seeds, soil, and shared food.

Sometimes it looks like repentance, learning, listening, and repairing harm.

Sometimes it looks like a community garden where people who might not otherwise meet can work side by side on common ground.

That post explains the foundation for this site: creation care as part of Christian faith, the healing of broken relationships, the hope of new creation, and the possibility that renewal can begin with a seed, a prayer, and a shared patch of ground.

Choose a Path

You may arrive here from different places. Here are a few ways to enter the conversation.

If you are a pastor or ministry leader

Start with the question: How might creation care belong within the mission, worship, discipleship, and community life of your church?

Green Ministry will offer theological reflections, practical ministry ideas, and church-based approaches to creation stewardship, especially around gardens, food, prayer, and local partnerships.

If you are an ordinary Christian wondering where to begin

Start small.

Pray outside. Read Genesis 1 or Romans 8 slowly. Notice the place where you live. Ask what God has entrusted to your care. Look for one act of repair, gratitude, restraint, hospitality, or service.

Faithful creation care does not begin with having every answer. It begins with attention and obedience.

If you are a gardener

You already know that soil teaches.

Gardening can train patience, humility, wonder, dependence, and hope. A garden can also feed neighbours, welcome children, gather community, restore degraded soil, and become a living place of prayer.

Green Ministry will explore gardening as practical service and spiritual formation.

If you are a neighbour or seeker

You are welcome here.

You do not need to share every belief to share concern for food, beauty, children, neighbourhoods, land, water, and the future. Green Ministry is rooted in Christian faith, but it also believes that gardens and local acts of care can create common ground where people meet with respect and hope.

The goal is not to overwhelm you with information. The goal is to help you begin.

A Simple First Practice

This week, go outside for ten quiet minutes.

Notice one living thing: a tree, a plant, a bird, a patch of soil, a vegetable, a flower, a weed, a seedling, a child playing outside, or the food on your table.

Ask God:

What are You showing me here?

What have You entrusted to my care?

What is one faithful next step?

Then take that step, however small.

A Prayer for the Beginning

Creator God,

teach us to love what You have made.

Open our eyes to the places, people, and creatures around us.

Heal what is broken in our relationship with You, with ourselves, with our neighbours, and with creation.

Give us humble hands, patient hearts, and courage to begin.

Make our common ground a place of prayer, service, restoration, and hope.

Amen.
